Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant will support the costing process at FXI through their expertise and analytic abilities. The selected individual will be responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. The incumbent will analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs.  They will work cross-functionally to gather and analyze inputs to ensure costing is accurate and timely, which allows a quick turnaround to our customers and better decisions regarding opportunities. 

Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis:
    • Monitor current costing methodology, both within the plants and across the plant network and ensure cross functional alignment on go forward process
    • Analyze all costing inputs including, but not limited to, materials, labor, overhead, and logistics/transportation
    • Cross functional alignment with procurement, operations, and sales to assure latest costs are incorporated into standards
    • Perform fixed and variable overhead cost analysis within and across the plants and ensure consistency of approach
  • Process Improvement:
    • Develop and administer a plan for tracking actual costs to budget or plan and prior year(s) Report costing trends and variation to process in order to evaluate standards on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to update/correct/adjust standards as necessary
    • Understand GL transactions and suggest improvements to Accounting processes and SAP functionality to push variances into the standards cost process
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure Costing Process is followed
    • Perform regular audits of Master Data information used in the Build up of plant standard costs
    • Participate in internal and external audits related to cost accounting
  • Operational Excellence:
    • SME for all Costing Inputs (BOMs, Routings, Work Centers, Cost Conditions)
    • Timely creation of all cost estimates to ensure plant production is not delayed
    • Analyze variations in the use of material across all plants
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Prepare inputs to annual budget and monthly forecasts
    • Analyze variations against budget and prior year
    • Lead Annual standard cost update process across the network

Qualifications

  • BA / BS Accounting or Industrial Engineering
  • 2 plus years of extensive manufacturing cost accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion, Essbase, Power BI, MS Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to perform daily analytics, auditing, diagnosis, and coordination of cost accounting standards across plants
  • Ability to drive and reinforce cost accounting standards
  • Ability to identify, communicate and collaborate plant shop floor differences and successes
  • Understanding of BOM and Production Routing
  • Extensive experience working collaboratively with teams and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Travel: 30-50%
